Chocolate Dog Studio
Neil and Jane are a creative team working from the village of Mapua near Nelson. Neil is a photographer and Jane is an illustrator and graphic designer (as well as helping carry camera bags around!) and they have an elderly golden retriever called Napoleon who accompanies them on as many jobs as possible. They named the company after their larger-than-life but extremely naughty chocolate labrador, Monty, now sadly no longer with them. They wanted a name that would stick in people's minds and be more interesting than just Smith & Smith Design!

Who are these Chocolate Dog people?...
With nearly 30 years in design and illustration under her belt Jane is one of the "old school". She's worked in top London design agencies as both a designer and illustrator and, over the years, has been involved with nearly every field of graphic creativity from exhibition design, to brand identity to rack cards for local businesses. After nearly 30 years has she had enough? - No, she still considers her work as being paid to do what she loves, and not many of us are lucky enough to be able to say that. Jane says "I worried at one stage in my life that creativity would run out - as though it had a sell-by date but that hasn't been the case. I still love my work and each project that comes through the door is a new creative challenge."
Neil is a photographer who loves shooting the New Zealand landscape - but prefers winter because he doesn't have to get up so early to catch the sunrise.
